Disc Golf...

DESCRIPTION:
Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc, or Frisbee® The sport was formalized in the 1970's, and shares with "ball golf" the object of completing each hole in the fewest number of strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, fewest number of throws). A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to a target which is the "hole". the hole can be one of a number of disc golf targets; the most common is called a Pole Hole® an elevated metal basket. As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. The trees, shrubs, and terrain changes located in and around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Finally, the "putt" lands in the basket and the hole is completed. Disc golf shares the same joys and frustrations of traditional golf, whether it's sinking a long putt or hitting a tree halfway down the fairway. There are few differences, though. Disc golf rarely requires a greens fee, you probably won't need to rent a cart, and you never get stuck with a bad "tee time." It is designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages, male and female, regardless of economic status.

EQUIPMENT:
Players should have at least one disc, and some play with multiple discs. Discs are designed to fly differently, and are categorized much like clubs in ball golf with putters, mid-range, and drivers. There will be discs available for anyone who needs them. Other equipment should include warm weather gear. The course will provide scorecards and pencils. Bright colored discs are recommended that will stand out in the snow.

RULES:
Players in various divisions will play one round (18 holes) beginning at 1:00 p.m. Please check in between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. At 12:45 p.m. there will be a players meeting at the parking lot. The round will begin with a shotgun start, and end when the last team has checked in with their final score card.

Parents/guardians may accompany the children during the round, but will not be permitted to assist the player, other than spotting locations of thrown discs. All holes are to be considered par 3 for scoring purposes, so par for the course would be 54. The player in each division with the lowest score wins. Ties will be decided by a “throw-off” starting on the first hole, and the lowest score wins (if the players tie, they carry on to the next hole until the tie is broken) Please see www.pdga.com for the official rules to Disc Golf.
